Council Unveils Plans for Five-Storey Community Centre in Cobblebank

The rapidly growing suburb of Cobblebank, located 33km west of Melbourne’s CBD, is set to benefit from an ambitious new development by the Melton City Council. The council has announced plans for the Cobblebank Community Services Hub (CCSH), a state-of-the-art five-storey community centre designed to cater to the needs of this thriving area.

Location and Site Details

The CCSH will be built on a prime 6850-square-metre site at 15 Hollingsworth Drive, strategically situated at the intersection of Hollingsworth and Stadium drives. This development forms part of a larger 23.69-hectare lot owned by the council, underscoring the local government’s commitment to community infrastructure.

Cutting-Edge Design

Architects Design Inc have crafted an innovative plan for the CCSH, which will include five levels above ground and a basement, offering a total of 8039 square metres of leasable space. The design showcases a modern two-storey podium topped by three recessed levels, creating a visually appealing structure that seamlessly blends with its surroundings.

Key architectural features include:

Public Plaza and Green Street: A welcoming public plaza and green street will enhance community access and connectivity.

Sustainability: The facility will feature 89 bicycle storage spaces and 48 car parking bays equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, reflecting a focus on sustainable transport.

Winter Gardens: Located on the north and south facades of the first, third, and fourth floors, these gardens will provide year-round comfort and aesthetic appeal.

Functional and Flexible Spaces

The ground floor of the CCSH will host a north-south oriented lobby with end-of-trip facilities, a prayer room, meeting rooms, a parents' room, and reception and waiting areas. This floor is designed to provide essential services and create a welcoming environment for visitors.

The upper levels will offer:

First Floor: 2385 square metres of flexible office space.

Second Floor: 1447 square metres of office space.

Third Floor: 1402 square metres of office space.

Fourth Floor: 1400 square metres of office space.

These spaces are designed to be adaptable, supporting a variety of health and community services vital to the Cobblebank community.

Enhancing Community Wellbeing

The Melton City Council envisions the Cobblebank Community Services Hub as a cornerstone for the suburb, providing essential health and community services to meet the needs of its growing population. With its innovative design, sustainable features, and commitment to functionality, the CCSH promises to be a transformative addition to Cobblebank’s urban landscape.
